Home/Student Edition – Key Information
Please take the time to read this page, as it contains important information about the Home (formerly "Student") Edition of Dynamic Learning.
Dynamic Learning (Home Edition) was designed, and is licensed, for single-user home use only and is given away free with relevant books. It is a standalone Mac and PC program and does not run in a web browser or make use of any browser settings.
No content is provided on the disc itself: it is all downloaded from our servers. The program requires unfiltered, direct access to the internet, so it may be necessary to configure your firewall and security software to allow both the "Start DL Student" (or "Start DL Home") and "DL Student" applications to access the following domains:
http://dynamiclearning.mmtdigital.co.uk
http://www.dynamic-learning.co.uk
http://edgecastcdn.net
These are not all websites, so a "page not found" error if you try them into a web browser is not relevant.
All connections are via Port 80. The Home Edition will not work if you are behind a proxy and are unable to configure it to use this port: unfortunately it is not possible, for technical reasons, to configure Dynamic Learning itself to use a different port.
We realise that teachers may wish to evaluate the Home Edition from school, but unless proxy-free access can be granted by the school network technicians, this will not be possible.
To evaluate the disc, please try it at home, using an unproxied (direct) broadband connection to the Web. However, please note that the content itself may not yet be available and you may just see a page suggesting you check back later.
Alternatively, depending on the particular title you're interested in, you may be able to download a demo of the Network Edition, which will give you a sample of the content and an idea of how the program works.
Almost all Student Edition discs accompany a Network Edition, details of which can be found by browsing the Curriculum Areas menu at the top left of this page. Teachers can order Network Edition discs on approval by contacting Bookpoint direct, by telephone on 01235 827720, or by emailing education@bookpoint.co.uk, quoting the ISBN of the title.
If you wish to run Dynamic Learning in a classroom setting, you must purchase the Network Edition of the program. The Network Edition doesn't require internet access, has more features than the Student Edition, contains many more resources, and allows you to load content into your VLE.

We have now made some Home Edition content available in a new form which does not require internet access.
Users who are experiencing problems allowing the program to connect to our servers can click here to go to our downloads page, where you can download a zipped Home Standalone version of most published Dynamic Learning titles. This edition, once downloaded, does not require an internet connection in order to function.
